Pilots for Fair
Representation (PFR)
The mission of Pilots for
Fair Representation is to demand that ALPA abide by its mission
statement and its duty to fairly represent all pilots represented by
the Association including those employed by Allegheny and Piedmont.
USAirways Pilots for
Justice When this crisis first surfaced in early
February 2003, just like you, we were faced with a critical choice. We
could have either done nothing and placed all of our faith and trust
in ALPA and its attorneys, OR taken matters into our own hands
and along with you, attempt to secure justice for the pilots and
spouses in our group.
TWA Pilots vs ALPA Following
American's acquisition of TWA, the TWA pilots were promised a fair and
equitable seniority integration. In their lawsuit, the TWA
pilots contend that ALPA disregarded its duties to the TWA pilots in
favor of persuading the American pilots (represented by the APA) to
rejoin ALPA.
EWA CREWMEMBERS The
Emory pilots maintain that following the unwarranted shutdown of their
airline, ALPA improperly entered into an agreement with management
which dismissed all grievances, released all claims, and barred any
flight crew member from challenging the furloughs and termination of
flight operations.

Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA)
The Air Line Pilots
Association, International (ALPA) is the largest airline pilot union
in the world and represents 64,000 pilots who fly for 41 U.S. and
Canadian airlines. Founded in 1931, the Association is chartered by
the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress. Known internationally as
US-ALPA, it is a member of the International Federation of Air Line
Pilot Associations.
Allied Pilots Association (APA)
The Allied Pilots Association serves as the certified collective
bargaining agent for all American Airlines pilots. APA was founded in
1963 by a group of American Airlines pilots who broke away from the
Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). With more than 11,500 members, APA
is the largest independent pilots’ union in the world.
Teamsters Local 747
Teamsters Local Union 747 was chartered
by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in September 1995 for
the purpose of providing representation, assistance, and security for
cockpit crewmembers employed by sectors of the air transport industry,
especially in the areas of air freight, regionals, supplementals, and
fractional ownership organizations.
Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA)
is a trade association comprised of over 22,000 professional
pilots. The Coalition's purpose is to address safety, security,
legislative and regulatory issues affecting the professional flight
deck crew member on matters of common interest to the individual
member unions.
Airline Industry Associations:
Air Transport Association (ATA)
Founded by a group of 14 airlines meeting in
Chicago in 1936, ATA was the first and remains the only trade
organization of the principal U.S. airlines.
Regional Airline Association (RAA)
represents U.S. regional airlines and the suppliers of products and
services that support the industry, before the U.S. Congress, Federal
Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation and other
federal and state agencies.
